Event Details

Get ready to transform words into art at Blackout Poetry Event, a creative and empowering event for LGBT youth ages 13-18! Whether you’re a seasoned poet or just looking for a new way to express yourself, this is your chance to discover the beauty of your voice through a fun and imaginative activity.

 What is Blackout Poetry?
Take old pages from books, magazines, or newspapers and turn them into something completely new! By blacking out words and phrases, you’ll create bold, powerful, and one-of-a-kind poems that reflect your story, your identity, and your truth.

 What’s Happening:

  • Creative Poetry Station: Grab markers, pages, and inspiration to craft your own blackout poems.
  • Artistic Freedom: Add doodles, designs, and colors to make your poetry pop!
  • Inspiration Wall: Share your creations and read the work of others in our uplifting community display.
  • Poetry Reading: Step up to the mic and share your work with friends (if you want!) or just enjoy listening.

No poetry experience needed — just bring your creativity and an open heart! Whether you want to celebrate your identity, process your feelings, or simply have fun, Blackout Poetry Event is the perfect place to connect, express, and shine.
